“A Mother’s Journey to America: The Land of Milk and Honey”

Years ago I was encouraged to share my life story with a women’s group in Southern California. With much prayer I put my thoughts together and wrote my testimonial of my journey to America which my late father proudly referred to as “The land flowing with milk and honey.” The journey starts from my small hometown in the Philippines and ends here on US soil. Along the way, my eyes are opened to the realization that Almighty God works mightily in the lives of each and every person. 

I’ve traveled to America and beyond sharing my testimony about the real meaning of “The Land of Milk and Honey” in the lives of others, and how they can find it with Jesus as their guide.

I am proud and grateful to be an American.

Stories upon stories have been told of the hardships, risks, frustrations and almost unsurmountable hurdles that people from all parts of the world experience to be able to come to the United States and eventually become its citizen. 

The question is, can anybody who considers it an ultimate dream to become a U.S citizen truly find the ultimate freedom and happiness here? 

Can one truly say that America has all the answers to one’s problems and aspirations? 

If it is a question of citizenship, I would at anytime be proud to proclaim that over and above my U.S. citizenship, my highest and greatest aspiration is a sure citizenship in my Father’s Heavenly Kingdom. And my visa is my faith in Christ Jesus, my Lord and Savior. 

I love to share my journey from the tropical hometown in the Philippines to “America the Beautiful.”
